Large Homeowners Assoc v. Fire Sprinkler Manufacturer – Time to Failure Analysis
There are 206 condos in the Homeowners Association. From May 17th, 2004 to June 14th, 2004, 12 sprinklers were installed in each condo, for a total of 2472 total sprinklers. In total, there are 84 repair records spanning a period from April 19th, 2004 to May 15th, 2007. The repair records contain data on the condo units where repairs were made, the date of repair, sprinkler brand, type of failure, and cost of repair. The records do not indicate whether a single or multiple sprinklers failed. While most condo units have no or one repair visit, the records reflect when multiple repair visits were made. Based on detailed data, separate repair visits, and the analysis of the variation in repair costs presented in this memo, for purposes of analysis, each repair record was treated as a failure.
